A moving-coil galvanometer turns a tiny current into a visible deflection, and this 3D model lets you take it apart. Rotate the view to see the coil sitting in the field of the curved pole pieces, and watch the torque develop and the pointer settle as current flows.

Die Physik dahinter

Current in the coil produces a torque τ = BIAN in the radial field of the shaped pole pieces. The hairspring supplies an opposing restoring torque proportional to the deflection angle, so the pointer comes to rest where the two balance. Because the radial field keeps B perpendicular to the coil sides at every angle, the scale is linear in current.
